Welcome to 4th Grade Fun!

We are already into the month of March!!! 

Things to remember:

  It is Measurement of Academic Performance testing time!!  We will have our  Reading M.A.P. test on Friday, March 18th.  We will have our Math M.A.P. test on Friday, March 25th.  Please make sure that your child has a good sleep the night before the test and a healthy breakfast.

General information and links regarding  4th Grade curriculum:                       

**Math curriculum is based on Eureka Math this year.  This program is aligned to the Common Core. To help you your child succeed, please utilize  IXL to practice all content areas in math.  Each child has an account on IXL.  Just click on the IXL link, and it will bring you to the site.

**Math includes place value, estimation, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, order of operations, fractions, and measurement.

**English/Language Arts includes daily oral language, spelling, vocabulary, diagramming  sentences, narratives, expository writing to inform and opinion, as well as reading fiction and nonfiction text.

**Social Studies includes studying the great state of Nevada, children presenting their biographies of historical figures after research, and a culminating field trip to Virginia City, Nevada.

**Science includes studying rocks, minerals, the earth, forces, motion, energy, and the native Americans from the Douglas County region.

**Place Based Education includes the Great Basin Outdoor School, Lake Tahoe Research Vessel, Earth Day on the M.S. Dixie, Water Safety Awareness by our Fire Department, and Project WET.

**PBIS is a program we are implementing here at Zephyr Cove Elementary that gives encouragement, teaches children to care about each other, kindness, good listening skills, being polite, being fair, helpful, being gentle, sharing, working together with a common goal, and above all being positive in all you do.
