Principal's Message
_
Welcome to Zephyr Cove Elementary School! Our
motto “Expecting the Best” is evident in our teachers, staff, and most
importantly, our students. We strive to deliver the curriculum adopted by
our district along with the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) in a dynamic and
individual way. Because
our school is small, we are a close community of learners. We learn,
play, grow, and work together each and every day.
Our teachers are life-long learners who are creative thinkers and problem solvers. They teach their students to do the same. We focus on English-Language Arts and Mathematics through differentiated instruction and flexible grouping. Many of the teachers use hands-on manipulatives to enhance learning and solidify understanding of the content they teach.
Over the summer of 2011, each classroom was equipped with interactive technology Promethean Boards so that students have a greater understanding of the power of information and research as it relates to the world workplace. George Whitell High School provides us with learning opportunities that include beginning and intermediate band, music, art, and PE. We are also able to send some students to an accelerated math class.
Middle and high school student volunteers visit classrooms each Friday and work with elementary students in small group settings and help in classrooms to gain community service hours. Our school year ends with the culmination of our annual track meet held at the GWHS track.
Our ZCES Parent-Teacher Club encourages each and every parent to participate in some activity or volunteer in their child’s classroom sometime throughout the school year. They have provided thousands of dollars in equipment and resources for our classrooms and teachers which support student achievement and success. You may wish to go to their link on the home page and contact one of the Board Members to find out how you can help support and participate in our school’s success.
Our recently created “Spanish Connection” parent club serves our Latino population by holding meetings at Kahle Community Center on the third Tuesday of each month at 6:00pm. They also support our school and students by hosting two special evening events each year in addition to maintaining our school’s recycling program.
Please look at our school calendar link to find out specific days and times of upcoming events and feel free to check with any of our teachers or school staff for more information.
Thank you for visiting our website. I hope that you will find the various links and information useful. Please feel free to contact me or my secretaries if you have any questions. We are here to serve you!
